Scribe Award Nomination

Celebrating the Nomination of Kolchak, The Nightstalker: Touch of Silk for a Scribe Award

I am thrilled to share some incredible news with you all—my story Kolchak, The Nightstalker: Touch of Silk (published by Moonstone Books) has been nominated for a Scribe Award by the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers (IAMTW)! This recognition is a profound honor and a milestone in my writing journey.

About IAMTW and the Scribe Awards

The IAMTW is a professional organization dedicated to enhancing the careers of tie-in writers. These are the talented authors who write books based on existing media properties, such as TV shows, movies, games, and more. The Scribe Awards, established by IAMTW, celebrate excellence in this unique literary field. They acknowledge the creativity and skill required to expand beloved universes and bring new adventures to life within them.

The Journey to the Nomination

Receiving this nomination is especially meaningful to me because it represents not just a professional achievement, but a personal triumph over adversity. For five years, I couldn’t write. This period of silence began before my lung transplant and continued long after. The experience was harrowing, and during those years, it felt like a vital part of my identity had been put on hold.

Rebuilding My Writing Life

Determined to reclaim my career, I began taking online writing classes. These courses were more than just educational; they were a lifeline, helping me to rebuild the neural pathways that had atrophied. It was a slow, painstaking process, but with each lesson, I felt a little more of my old self returning. I poured myself into the exercises, gradually regaining the confidence to start sending my stories out into the world again.

From Fear to Fulfillment

When I finally saw my work published again, it was a dream come true, but it came with a shadow of fear. Every new assignment brought with it a nagging doubt—was my story good enough? Would it be worthy of publication? These questions haunted me, despite the evidence of my growing list of published works.

The Significance of the Nomination

This Scribe Award nomination for Touch of Silk is more than just an accolade; it’s a validation of the hard work and resilience that brought me back to writing. It reassures me that I have not only returned to the writer I was before my transplant but perhaps have even surpassed that version of myself. This recognition from IAMTW means the world to me. It is a testament to the power of perseverance, the importance of dedication, and the joy of storytelling.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. Your encouragement has been invaluable, and this nomination is as much a celebration of our collective efforts as it is of my personal achievement.

Looking Forward

As I continue to write and create, I carry this honor with me as a reminder of how far I’ve come and what is possible. I am excited about the future and the stories yet to be told, and I am profoundly grateful for this moment of recognition from the IAMTW.

Thank you for sharing in this joyous milestone with me. Here’s to many more stories and the adventures they bring!
